The following is taken from an article by Steven A Austin, Ph. D. "Archaeoraptor: Feathered Dinosaur From National Geographic Doesn't Fly"
On October 15, 1999, at a press conference in Washington D.C., the National Geographic Society announced the discovery and interpretation of the newest fossil called Archaeoraptor liaoningensis (meaning "ancient bird of prey from Liaoning"). The press conference coincided with the November 1999 issue of National Geographic magazine and its article "Feathers for T. rex? New birdlike fossils are missing links in dinosaur evolution." The turkey-sized animal according to National Geographic ". . . is a true missing link in the complex chain that connects dinosaurs to birds. It seems to capture the paleontological `moment' when dinosaurs were becoming birds." According to their press release, the anatomy of Archaeoraptor proves a feathered theropod dinosaur was capable of flight. The features include:
" . . . a very advanced, birdlike shoulder structure, wishbone and big sternum—all indicating the animal was a powerful flier. Remains of feathers surround the specimen's bones. Yet its tail was strikingly similar to the stiff tails of a family of predatory dinosaurs known as dromaeosaurs, which includes the "raptors" of Jurassic Park." NSA Press Release

Well folks, this one is for those who think that this 'evolutionary fossil' was never put forth from the scientific community. This is only one of many frauds that have been man made to try and prop up a failed theory. Talk about rearranging the chairs on the deck of the Titanic! These people will not admit that what they hold dear is a total failure. What will they manufacture next? A flying elephant?
Piltdown man, Lucy, Nebraska man and all the other so-called 'missing links' have all been proven false. They were announced on front page news but refuted, most likely, in the funny paper section.
More people need to think like the motto of Missouri: Show Me! Put the factual evidence on the table to back up your claims.
