It seems that we have become so open-minded that our brains have fallen out! Christians are told not to pray in Jesus' name in public gatherings. Why are Christians singled out? Other religious leaders would never be asked to omit the name of their god in public, yet Christians are told not to use the name of Jesus! This same thing was an issue in early Christianity, as the following passage indicates.
"When they had brought them, they stood them before the Council. The high priest questioned them, saying, 'We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.' But Peter and the apostles answered, 'We must obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had put to death by hanging Him on a cross. He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.' But when they heard this, they were cut to the quick and intended to kill them." Acts 5:27-33
City councils have been intimidated so often by the A. C. L. U. (which was founded as a Communist organization and is still committed to anti-American causes) about Jesus’ name and things Christian on public grounds, that these good people live in fear of a BOGUS law suit. The Bible states that the greatest name in the entire world is JESUS (Philippians 2:9-11). This great nation was founded on the Bible and the Lordship of Jesus Christ, if you care to check the original documents. Most atheists are unwilling to look at anything that would prove them wrong so they choose to ignore the historical evidence.
So, why so much concern about the name of Jesus? The name of Jesus reminds sinners of their sins and the consequences of refusing Jesus’ gift of forgiveness.
"He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:18
World religions and Christian cults all teach that Jesus’ death on the cross was insufficient for man’s sins, so people must add good works to the formula to go to Heaven. This is nothing more than their way of enslaving those who follow their twisted teachings. These groups hate Ephesians 2:8-9 for it lays it out clearly!
“For by GRACE (undeserved favor) you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the GIFT of God; NOT as a result of WORKS, so that no one may boast.”
True Christianity teaches that no one can be good enough to EARN forgiveness; everyone must receive it as a free gift by humbling themselves before a holy, loving, merciful God and receiving THE greatest gift of all, forgiveness for sins by Jesus’ death on the cross.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His ONLY begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Let God give you the greatest gift of all. Who would refuse a free gift and then turn around and try to earn it? Does this make any sense?
