It is very interesting that science has not been able to extend the life span of mankind. What makes it look like it has, is saving babies from death, that years ago would have died by disease or preemies that would have died. The Bible established the life expectancy of mankind thousands of years ago.
"As for the days of our life, they contain seventy (70) years, or if due to strength, eighty years. Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; for soon it is gone and we fly away." Psalm 90:10
Today, when a man beats the seventy mark, it is said that he is beating the grim reaper. Science will never find a way to give man eternal youth or eternal life. Only God can give eternal life to mankind. You see, it is the question of where we will go when we die that matters most. Seventy years vs. eternity. Think about this for a moment. Have you made your reservation for your really long life? The Bible says that the destinations are heaven or hell, no third choice. Like an exclusive restaurant or play, we must make our reservations in advance. God has given us the years of our life to make our choice. There is NO second chance after we die. It is a done deal. No purgatory, no baptism for the dead, no other options period! The story of the rich man and Lazarus lays it out clearly. This is NOT a parable but an actual account. Parables do not use names and places, only generalities. Here is what God says about it.
"But what does it say?' The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart' -- that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, 'Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.' For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for 'Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:8-13
These are God's words, not mine. Just follow the instructions and He will do what He has promised. It is a matter of going away from God, but realizing that you are going the wrong way. You make a choice to turn around, turn your back on sin and begin walking toward Him for the rest of your life. Once you experience His love and forgiveness, you will have no trouble staying on your walk with Him and toward Him. Note that there are no restrictions as to who can be saved from hell. Whoever includes every human being on earth. It is a matter of choice. Which destination will you choose? This is drop dead serious.
"He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." "He who believes in the Son (Jesus) has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." John 3:18 and 36
Today is another day closer to our own death. Don't put it off. This might be your last day that you live. Blessings!
