The prophet Isaiah spoke by the Spirit of God concerning the city of Jerusalem just before the city was attacked and taken by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. Israel had forsaken the things of God and had taken on every form of vice and perversion, so God brought judgment on them to correct them. It is strange at how these words ring true for modern Washington D. C. America's political center has the highest crime rate of any American city. How it fits the picture to a tee.
"How the faithful city has become a harlot, she who was full of justice! Righteousness once lodged in her, but now murderers. Your silver has become dross, your drink diluted with water. Your rulers are rebels, and companions of thieves; everyone loves a bribe, and chases after rewards. They do not defend the orphan, nor does the widow's plea come before them." Isaiah 1:21-23
It seems to me that promoting every form of sexual perversion, the murder of unborn babies and overlooking widows who are genuinely in need are the order of the day. Supporting people who WILL NOT work seems to take precedence over taking care of those who spent their lives working hard and now find themselves unable to work. After all, the Bible says, "For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies." 2 Thessalonians 3:10-11
Many politicians seem to think that it is the responsibility of hard working citizens to feed, clothe and shelter what the Bible in essence calls deadbeats. "Get a job," should be written above the Health and Human Services buildings across the nation. Work is not a punishment, it is a God given responsibility to all able bodied people.
Thank God for the few honest, godly, tenacious and kind hearted politicians who do try to do the right thing. The choice of Sarah Palin seems to me to be such a breath of fresh air. She seems to be 'real people,' versus Washington insiders who mostly think of feathering their own nests at the expense of those who work hard to make a living. Pork barrel projects, entitlements and lately, this enormous farm bill that the liberals pushed through are real examples of serving self-interests over the interests of the citizens.
What will it take to clean up Washington D. C.? Palin has done a pretty good job of cleaning out the rats in Alaskan government. Wouldn't that be a great job for the new Vice President to take on? Wow, restoring our government to being by the people, of the people and for the people would be a grand thing to see by 2012.
Candidates like Palin give me hope that this great nation can be restored to the values set in place by our Christian founding fathers. Can you imagine what could happen in public schools if prayer and the Ten Commandments could again grace the halls of every school? Kids might actually stop to think about murder, immorality, lying, stealing, cheating etc. etc. Child bearing could again be restored to the marriage bed, not the back seat of a Malibu. The abortion mills that murder millions of innocent babies would be out of business. Honesty and decency could again be the product of education rather than teaching sexual perversion. Wow, what a thought! You say, "Can't happen?" Think again! Just take a look at what happened in the 1700's and 1800's when America experienced spiritual awakenings. God cares deeply about our nation's direction. He alone can restore hope, decency, respect and morality to our streets, and He desires this greatly.
