We pointed out yesterday that Planned Parenthood could qualify for up to
$10 billion in Senator Reid's grab bag health care bill as part of the goody given to Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.). Under Bernie's buyoff, the leadership gave Vermont a pile of cash for "community health centers." This taxpayer-funded prize was meant to win Sanders's support after the Senate dropped the government takeover option for health care. Another vocal supporter of government run health care, Senator Roland Burris (D-Ill.), landed another big deal, worthy of his predecessor in the Senate, President Barack Obama.
According to The Weekly Standard's John McCormack" pages 240 through 248 of the manager's amendment, requires that six different agencies each establish an 'Office of Minority Health.' The agencies are the 'Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.'" These new agencies would be tasked with doling out government grants to organizations like the scandal plagued ACORN as well as unions that are stalwart Democratic Party donors, the liberal George Soros group Moveon.org, and host of other ne'er-do-wells.
