I, with 89% of conservatives in the state of Texas, are VERY disappointed with the re-election of Speaker Straus. With a super majority of conservatives elected, the most since reconstruction, it seemed that with this group of conservatives that they would make their first act to elect a TRUE conservative as Speaker. But NO! They cave in to favor repayment. My own representative's office said that he would be voting for Straus because he supported him once before. IE, tit for tat ... politics as usual.
I wonder if this is a preview of coming attractions for our US Congress this term? Will the Tea Party candidates have some backbone or will they cave in to the party line and to the liberal minority in the House and the slim majority in the Senate?
What will it take to reform our government as it stands? It is possible to elect honest politicians today or are we finished with integrity in politics?
