Bribery Instead Of Christmas Gifts?

Source: Family Research Council
We pointed out yesterday that Planned Parenthood could qualify for up to $10 billion in Senator Reid's grab bag health care bill as part of the goody given to Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.). Under Bernie's buyoff, the leadership gave Vermont a pile of cash for "community health centers." This taxpayer-funded prize was meant to win Sanders's support after the Senate dropped the government takeover option for health care. Another vocal supporter of government run health care, Senator Roland Burris (D-Ill.), landed another big deal, worthy of his predecessor in the Senate, President Barack Obama. According to The Weekly Standard's John McCormack" pages 240 through 248 of the manager's amendment, requires that six different agencies each establish an 'Office of Minority Health.' The agencies are the 'Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.'" These new agencies would be tasked with doling out government grants to organizations like the scandal plagued ACORN as well as unions that are stalwart Democratic Party donors, the liberal George Soros group Moveon.org, and host of other ne'er-do-wells. Apparently, when it comes to taxpayer-funded grants there will be no distinction between a nice list and a naughty

Nightmare Before Christmas

It's going to be tough sledding for Senate Democrats over Christmas--and not because of the snow. America's rage over the leadership's bill is exploding on all sides. With today's early morning vote for cloture (the second of three), the Democrats are one step closer to their flights home, where rallies are already taking place at local offices. The biggest bulls-eye seems to be squarely on Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), who sold out his pro-life soul faster than you can say "Medicare exemption."

Surprisingly, most of the fury over Nelson is homegrown. His state colleague, Sen. Mike Johanns (R) couldn't distance himself from the Cornhusker fast enough, calling Nelson's betrayal of his pro-life principles "reprehensible." On the floor, Sen. Johanns said, "Nebraskans are frustrated and angry that our beloved state has been thrust into the same pot with all of the other special deals that get cut here. In fact... they're outraged that a backroom deal for our state might have been what puts this deal across the finish line." Even Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman, whose budget stands to profit from the deal, said he wants no part of these special favors and made it quite clear that "the responsibility for this special deal lies solely on the shoulders of Senator Ben Nelson."

If the beleaguered Senator hoped to find solace in the arms of the pro-abortion crowd, he was mistaken. They are just as irate. Some are even suggesting that the President sacrifice health care reform to squash the Nelson "compromise." Yesterday, the pro-abortion caucus in Congress met with insurance providers and lawyers to find ways to understand it and defeat it.

But they needn't have worried. In a new video uncovered today, Secretary Kathleen Sebelius praises Nelson's language, because, according to the woman in charge of these reforms, it ensures that everyone will pay for abortion--no matter how the funds are divided up. Surely that news won't sit well with voters, who are breaking on the pro-life side of this debate by a massive margin. According to a new Quinnipiac poll, Americans--by a huge three to one margin--are overwhelmingly opposed to using taxpayer dollars to fund abortion. Seventy-two percent of the country is now firmly on the side of Rep. Bart Stupak's (D-Mich.) solution to ban the government's financial involvement in the procedure. House and Senate conferees would do well to heed that warning when they come together to iron out their differences with the final bill, else this bill could collapse because of it.

While ObamaCare may seem inevitable, it is not! Disagreement over abortion is one of the many reasons this fight is far from over. Over at The Cloakroom Blog, you can check out at least seven more obstacles that could kill the bill for good. Why not take part in Number One: Public Revulsion? Ring in the New Year by ringing up your leaders! Join us in spending the next couple weeks calling, emailing, and visiting your House and Senate leaders. If you've run out of things to say, you could always sing. FRC's Chris Curry put together some new lyrics to "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" that are sure to get you noticed! Also, don't miss the first (and potentially last) appearance of the FRC Singers as they stumble through a satirical version of "Let It Snow!"

Will Liberals Have The Guts To Go Home For Christmas?

I wander how these dictators will be received back in their districts this Christmas. I am sure that they will refrain from using the traditional name for the season, CHRISTMAS. They will probably choose to call it Merry Socialmas or Merry Obamamas. They have tried to do away with God and country since last November and if we do not stop them they will soon succeed.

What we need is to set loose conservative Pit Bulls in congress who will do more than reply to Harry Reid with platitudes of mutual friendship but will get in the faces of these Socialists and stop them in their tracks. Where are they Pit Bulls of today? There are a few who will stand up to them. John McCain continues to dance around these radicals with trying to "work with them across the aisle." Where are the liberals who are doing the same?

May God have mercy on America.

Merry Christmas and may 2010 bring Hope and Change that we CAN believe in for a change.

Modern Liberal Pharisees

It is fascinating to watch history repeat itself. Do you remember how the religious leaders of Jesus' day and just after tried to stop the disciples from using Jesus'/Yeshua's NAME in public? Note the following passages to see how our modern liberals are trying to do the same thing today.

'Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus. And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they had nothing to say in reply. But when they had ordered them to leave the Council, they began to confer with one another saying, "What shall we do with these men? For the fact that a noteworthy miracle has taken place through them is apparent to all who live in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny itBut so that it will not spread any further among the people, let us warn them to speak no longer to any man in this name." And when they had summoned them, they commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to give heed to you rather than to God, you be the judge; for we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard." When they had threatened them further, they let them go (finding no basis on which to punish them) on account of the people, because they were all glorifying God for what had happened; for the man was more than forty years old on whom this miracle of healing had been performed."  Acts 4:13-22

'When they had brought them, they stood them before the Council. The high priest questioned them, saying, "We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this man's blood upon us." But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had put to death by hanging Him on a cross. He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him." But when they heard this, they were cut to the quick and intended to kill them. But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the Law, respected by all the people, stood up in the Council and gave orders to put the men outside for a short time. And he said to them, "Men of Israel, take care what you propose to do with these men. For some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody, and a group of about four hundred men joined up with him. But he was killed, and all who followed him were dispersed and came to nothing. After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the census and drew away some people after him; he too perished, and all those who followed him were scattered. So in the present case, I say to you, stay away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or action is of men, it will be overthrownbut if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them; or else you may even be found fighting against God." They took his advice; and after calling the apostles in, they flogged them and ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and then released them. So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name. And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they kept right on teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ."  Acts 5:27-42

What we need today are preachers and other Christians who are willing to suffer hardship in order to remain loyal to the HIGH calling from Jesus/Yeshua to proclaim HIS NAME to all the world, including public meetings. IT IS A TRAVESTY that our military chaplains are FORBIDDEN to pray in Jesus' name. Can you believe this? Why are pastors and other Christians allowing this evil to go on? There is NO restriction on any other religious group from praying in the name of their god, Hindu, Muslim etc. Why this attack on Jesus' name? Because he is the only threat to paganism/atheism and they must try to silence this name. Are you aware that Christians are COMMANDED to pray to God in Jesus' name? Jesus says without using His name our prayers are left on the launch pad. It is time to restore our freedom of speech and kick out the Socialist/Communist element in our government. Impeachment is the only way to save the REPUBLIC. Let's start something now and by summer we can enjoy restored freedom in America.

Outright Bribery In Congress: Buying Votes For A Disaster!

In what columnist Michelle Malkin has dubbed " Cash for Cloture," Senator Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) ability to sway all 60 Democratic Senators to vote for his health care bill monstrosity wasn't an exploit of legislative prowess-but taxpayer-funded bribery. On the heels of the "Louisiana Purchase," a deal that saw Senator Mary Landrieu (D-La.) pocket $300 million in pork, Senator Reid stuffed billions more into the Democrats' stockings in exchange for their crucial Sunday night vote. In the leadership's edition of "Let's Make a Deal," Senator Ben Nelson (D-Nebr.) was the biggest winner of all. While Americans in the other 49 states will have to pick up the tab for the bill's expansion in Medicaid, the Nebraska Democrat made sure his state got off scot-free. He traded in his pro-life scruples for a guarantee that the Cornhuskers will never pay a cent toward the government's plan. And for what? An abortion "compromise" that may actually be worse than the actual bill.

Under Senator Nelson's opt-out plan, states can refuse to offer abortion coverage-but their taxpayers will still be subsidizing the states that don't! Meanwhile, the senators from Vermont and Massachusetts watched the Nebraska deal unfold and decided to negotiate for something similar. All together, these statewide exemptions could cost a minimum of $1.2 billion! Pennsylvania, New York, and Florida all protected their Medicare programs from cuts, while other states will have to find ways to manage with the scaled-back program in the underlying legislation.

Also, Senators Nelson and Carl Levin (D-Mich.) have made sure that certain insurance companies in their states are off the hook from a new $7 billion dollar tax. On page 328 of Senator Reid's manager's amendment, Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), the master of illicit sweetheart deals, got his kickback-a $100 million bonus for the University of Connecticut to do with whatever they want. A staunch supporter of the public option, Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) was "persuaded" to drop his concerns after Senator Reid offered his state a $10 billion grant for "community health centers"-money that could easily be funneled to facilities that perform abortions. Playing hard-to-get certainly has its advantages in this new political climate.

Yesterday, some of the Democrats who didn't get the same incentives are kicking themselves. When Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) couldn't get past the reporters swarming Ben Nelson on her way to the cloture vote, she quipped, "I know I'm not as important as Senator Nelson. I didn't get the money for my state. I was too stupid." To read more about how this bill could destroy American medicine, check out this excellent op-ed from Sunday's Wall Street Journal, " Change Nobody Believes In." We do have one quibble with the article though. Senator Nelson might think he got abortion restrictions (he didn't), but even he admits he isn't quite sure.

Kevin Jennings, You're Fired!

It seems that the President's safe schools "czar" pushed more than the envelope in his career. Lately, some new information has surfaced about the kind of sexual activities that Kevin Jennings promoted to young kids--each report more disturbing than the last. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), along with 52 of his House colleagues, called for Jennings 's head back in October. This week, he's demanding answers.
In a new letter to the White House, Rep. King writes, "My colleagues and I, along with the American people, deserve to know why Mr. Jennings is still serving in your administration, despite his lack of appropriate qualifications or ethical standards... To date, we have received no response... Due to the inaction of your Administration, Representative Michael Burgess has introduced a resolution calling for Kevin Jennings to be fired from his post as 'Safe Schools Czar' immediately. I am disappointed that concerned Members of Congress have been forced to resort to legislative action as a result of your unwillingness to act on this important matter." Meanwhile, FRC has produced a special video on Jennings and we encourage you to click here and watch it. When you're finished, join Rep. King's call and contact your congressmen.

Christmas Poem For All Who Love Our Troops

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know,

Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.

Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.
A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..

To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."
"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.

No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.

I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.

I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."

"  So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

Sen. Reid and Rep. Pelosi: Ready For A Dirty Deal

Most polls place public opinion at about 60% AGAINST this health care travesty that is being bribed through congress. If these liberals pass this bill I predict the greatest landslide AGAINST them when it is time for them to be reelected. The American people are not fools and it is time for us to begin impeachment proceedings against the most radical ones. Tim Geithner and Kevin Jennings are two that must be removed from their offices and now. Geithner is the moving force behind the bringing terrorists into America for trial. He has a MAJOR conflict of interest going here as his law firm has represented a number of these terrorists in the past. This is nothing more than doing it at taxpayer expense. They need to go now! This is merely one more case of blatant corruption in the Democrat party. I cannot wait for November 2010 to see the fireworks.

Sen. Whitehouse: You Are Pathetic!

I just viewed a video of Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse's comments on the senate floor as he slandered everyone and anyone who disagrees with Obama or his liberal cronies. I think that this was the worst show of partisan egotism that I have ever witnessed and I will do whatever I can to see to it that he and others like him are placed on the unemployment list come 2010 or 2012. You can tell desperation when you see otherwise rational people acting irrationally. You, sir, are pathetic!
